Concret, steel, wood
4.00 x 4.00 x 10.90 m
Kunsthaus NRW
Kornelimünster, D
2017
The practice of using a building as a stone quarry, or of simply re-purposing its materials has existed since the early days of humankind. Buildings decay, or are added to something or expanded. Adapted to local conditions. The former Kornelimünster Abbey is such a conglomerate, having been erected layer by layer over several centuries. Polycrono plays with the spatialization of these processes. Itself an eternal construction site, between new building and ruin, it picks up some of the spoils of the inner courtyard.
