SMAX – Art in public program
The exhibition took place in the Dutch city of Boxmeer and is based on a research process, which focuses on different layers of the city. The idea was to occupy well-known areas, which are not mentioned anymore, and bring them back to a public discussion about urban space. In a dialog with the municipal authorities and long questioning what a project in the public sphere could do in this environment, three places in the city were selected.
Temporarily large-size structures appear on the sites as aliens using the city as a stage in relationship to the architectural space. It is important to think of the different objects as connected and consider them as chapters in a nonlinear, spacial theater play. After six weeks everything disappeared completely.
